All you need is MUD

We have had a few downpours lately, and the kids have
L-O-V-E-D
playing in the resulting mud.

Notice (in the pictures of Jacob) the nice large sandbox Grandma and Grandpa Chandler built for the kids. Yep, the sandbox is far behind him. The kids have decided that it is also fun to dig holes outside of the sandbox - like in the middle of the yard where we like to play ball. Hence, one of the small ponds that develop in our yard with each rainfall was Jacob's mud pit of choice this particular day.

Megan and her friend decided to create another mud pit - right outside the laundry room door in my flower bed - and then experiment with their artisitic abilities with the door as their canvas. Hmmmm. I decided to bite my tongue and just take pictures. They seemed to be having such a great time. I did make them wash the door though.

If you run out of mud, we have a a whole yard full of it along with the forest across the way. You're a great mom for letting them build their dentrites in such a messy way (and document it).

I am so happy that you just let them play in the mud - I think my mom did a lot of biting her tongue while we were growing up. I still love putting my toes in a nice mud puddle.

Kim, you are GOOD to bite your tongue. They look like they all had a blast. You need to send us some of your rain. You can't believe how brown it is out here right now...not so lovely.

You are such a nice mom. I hate cleaning up mud mess, so it's not something my kids play in - for now anyway. They'll dig holes every once in a while, but they don't get super dirty. I guess I need to relax a bit, huh?

You're a good mom to allow this and just let your kids make memories! I hope the clean up wasn't too bad!

I firmly believe in the lovely creativity mud can produce. Yes, sometimes moms just have to grit their teeth at the mess that comes with this creativity, but usually they can because they remember the muddy days of their childhood! I grew up on a potato farm in Idaho and irrigation, mud, and fun came as a package deal! Cute pics!
