Scripture Power

Matthew, Jacob, and I stayed home from church Sunday. I was very sick, and by the time church would have been over, so was Matthew. Jake just needed his nap at normal time. Anyway, Matthew and I were watching a video about Nephi and the brass plates. We were at the part where Laman and Lemuel were beating Nephi and Sam with a stick and an angel appeared to them. The narrator on the video said, "The angel chastened Laman and Lemuel. . .(something, something, something)." Matthew quickly piped up, "See, mom! It was Jason, Laman, and Lemuel. Nephi wasn't there when the angel came." Oh, he is so cute. Even though my stomach was so sick, I couldn't help but laugh and laugh as I explained to him what had really been said. He reluctantly said he understood, but I think in his heart he still believes Jason was there, too. Matthew is such a bright spot in my life!

I'm getting a kick out of Jonathan these days. I served him pancakes yesterday and he said, "Mom, a little whipped cream would make these pancakes just perfect!"

Later he drew a picture of himself with a funny looking face. He explained that it was a picture of him after he had eaten string cheese and he was plugged up (constipated).

Needless to say, I had a few laughs at his expense.

Ha ha! What a great story. It reminds me of a few botched lyrics that come from my children, particularly one from "I am a child of God," with "parents kind of dear."

Ha ha ha. I like all your stories. Wait - is Jason a good guy or a bad guy?

He is too funny. I love hearing what kids think was said. I am finding that Alyse still does that a lot - especially with music. Hope you are feeling better!

Just out of curiosity, does Matthew know any Jasons?
When I was little, I thought Jesus was a humming bird ("Jesus once of humble birth"). We must all have a hearing deficite!
I'm sorry you were sick.

Please keep these Dickey-isms coming! I LOVE to hear the things your kids say, particularly Matthew. This put a smile on my face! Ps, I loved when he "shhh'd" Eve today in Sacrament Meeting... he is too cute :) :) :)
