Laerenswaert = "Worth Learning"

While Darin was rehearsing Brahm's Requiem with a local Anglican church choir, the kids and I went to a fun colonial craft fair Saturday at an historical farmstead.  It was our first really cold day this fall, so we bundled up and headed out.  The kids carded wool, wrote with quill pens and used wax seals, beat flax to get fibers for linen thread, dipped candles, hooked rugs, played colonial games, and viewed a puppet show - twice.  It is the oldest running puppet show in English history - Punch and Judy.  Megan, Matthew and Jacob especially liked it.  I loved laughing at them as they were laughing so hard.  I never did master the stilts, but Sarah and Megan got a few wobbly steps in.  Anyway, lots of fun!  I'm looking into the Colonial Summer Camp at the farm for next summer.  I think the kids would love it - if it's not ridiculously expensive.

Very educational! I've always been a little fascinated with colonial days. I know I would have enjoyed that fair. You're a great mother to do all these fun things with your kids Kim. You've inspired me!

I'm loving your blog. Thanks for doing it. Keep it up!

Wow - you're very brave to try the stilts. I'm terrified of heights (even small ones) and wouldn't dream of it. Looks like a fun day! And I echo Jill's sentiments - I love seeing what you're up to!

How cool is that field trip! I love the shot of Matthew enjoying the show- priceless! And I can imagine that Megan was in heaven if she's still into the whole colonial scene.

p.s. LOVE the Braham's Requiem- you'll have to send me details about when Darin is performing and we'll see if we can swing by. ;)

Good job on the blog. It looks great. Do you feel like you are getting the hang of it? It looks great. That would have been a really cool thing to go to. Looks like everyone had a blast. I wonder if This is the Place does anything like that. I'll have to check it out. It's hard to get out much when the wife is pushing 9months though. Take care.
